Information about History Alive: A Journey Through Time

History Alive is a weekend event held next in Winter 2022 with a full and exciting Programme each day.

Gates open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 4 p.m. The Programme runs from 10-4 each day.

Over 1000 re-enactors and historians from all over Queensland participate with Main Arena Combat Performances, Medieval Tournaments, Historical Displays, Workshops, and Discussions.

BYO a picnic OR purchase food & drinks from our many on-site Vendors and Food Trucks.

Visit the Market Stalls and Museums then take a break while the kids enjoy a show or two!

Gate Ticket Prices

  • Adult Day: $25 | Adult Weekend: $35
  • Child Day: $15 | Child Weekend: $20
  • Concession/Student Day: $20 | Concession/Student Weekend: $30
  • Family Day: $70 | Family Weekend: $90
  • Children under 5: Free

Early Bird Tickets will be announced in 2022.

Family Tickets are for two (2) Adults and up to four (4) Children.

Children’s Tickets include Primary and High School aged Children (aged 13-17, upon display of Student ID).

Concession Tickets are for Holders of current concession cards (Pensioners and other similar valid concessional IDs)Please display your Concession Card at the Ticket Gate.

Student Tickets are for Tertiary Students with a current Student ID card. Please display your Student ID Card at the Ticket Gate.

Group bookings are always welcome! If you would like to bring a Group of 12 people or more, please contact us to organise a discounted Group Rate.

We honour Carer Companion Cards. Please display your Queensland Carer Companion ID Card at the Gate.

Companion Dogs are welcome at History Alive. Please make sure that your dog is wearing their identifying coat & you have your ID with you.

Domestic Dogs are NOT PERMITTED on site at Rocklea Showgrounds.

The gates open at 9:30 am each day and, at 10:00 am, the Program goes off with a Bang!

When is it held?

What time does it start?
The gates open at 9:30 a.m. each day, with the program starting at 10 a.m.

Where is it held?
History Alive is held at Rocklea Showgrounds, corner of Ipswich Road & Goburra Street, Rocklea, Queensland.

Is parking available?
Yes! FREE Visitor Parking is available along Ipswich Road & in the surrounding streets.

I have an Australian Disability Parking Permit, where can I park?
No problem, you can park on-site at Rocklea Showgrounds. Please enter via Goburra Street and have your permit displayed clearly so our traffic controllers can direct you through.

How can we get to the Rocklea Showgrounds?
See above for parking information, or follow this link to Google Maps for directions.

Can I catch public transport to the Rocklea Showgrounds?
Yes, you sure can! The Rocklea Railway Station is a short 5-minute stroll away along flat ground. BCC buses service the area regularly.

Can I bring my own weapon? Like a sword or replica gun?
Sorry, NO. Those items will have to be left at home.

Is food available?
Yes. There are loads of food vendors on-site, so you can have a fuss-free day. We also have vendors selling other items, such as armour and weapons, pottery, jewellery, gifts, antiques & curios as well as historical models.

Is EFTPOS available?
Yes, EFTPOS is available to buy tickets at the gate and an ATM will be available in the Central Buildings area.

Is there shade available?
There are plenty of trees, undercover seating and the Grandstand is undercover. However, there is very little shade on the main arena where the encampments are located, so please bring an umbrella or a hat and sunscreen.

Is there wheelchair access?
Yes, the entire site is wheelchair accessible with disabled toilets also available.

What should I wear?
We suggest comfortable clothing and shoes. Also remember, even though it is winter the sun’s rays are still strong so don’t forget to wear sunscreen and a hat.

Do you honour companion cards?
Absolutely, just show them at the gate.

Can I smoke at History Alive?
Smoking & e-cigarettes are permitted ONLY within the signed designated smoking areas.
